Biography
Alex Demkov is a professor of Physics at The University of Texas at Austin. In 1997-2005, he was a principal staff scientist in Motorola's R&D organization providing theoretical support for the development of low- and high-k dielectric materials, following postdoctoral research at Arizona State University. In 2005, he joined the faculty of the Physics Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Demkov has made significant contributions to materials physics. He is Fellow of the American Physical Society and Senior Member of IEEE. He has published over 280 papers and has been awarded 10 US Patents.
Research
Demkov's research spans a broad range of topics in the physics of electronic and optical materials. His current research is focused on oxide heterostructures and integrated silicon photonics.
