Biography
Feliciano Giustino is Professor of Physics at The University of Texas at Austin and holds the Moncrief Chair in Quantum Materials Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2005 and was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (2005-2008). Before joining UT Austin, he was Professor of Materials Science at the University of Oxford (2008–2019) and the Mary Shepard B. Upson Professor in Engineering at Cornell University (2017–2018). He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, and recipient of a Leverhulme Research Leadership Award, a Moncrief Grand Challenge Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship in Physics of the Centennial Class. He serves on the Executive Editorial Board of JPhys Materials and as Associate Editor of Journal of Computational Electronics. His research focuses on electronic structure theory, high-performance computing, and the quantum design of advanced materials. He has authored over 180 scientific publications and a monograph on density-functional theory published by Oxford University Press, and he initiated the open-source EPW software project, used in the study of electron–phonon interactions.
