Observing features of the Cosmic Microwave Background is one of the few ways to probe the physics of the very early Universe. Modern cosmological experiments rely on extremely sensitive instruments to perform these measurements. The Simons Observatory is a leading cosmological observatory, hosting a suite of four telescopes located in the Atacama Desert of Chile.
In this talk we will discuss the characterization and mitigation of two sources of systematic noise for the Simons Observatory Small Aperture Telescopes. The first source being the stability of the temperature of the detector modules, and how it can be modified with a feedback-control loop. The second source being ground pickup from a nearby mountain, and its characterization with a drone mounted radiation source.
