Description
Abstract: Part I of the presentation will provide an update on the rapid progress being made in the field of quantum computing and give the audience a solid sense of the current state-of-the-art and its impact on science, industry, and the economy. Some of the key hardware and software elements on the roadmap to “Quantum Advantage” will be highlighted.
Part II will be a personal reflection on my career as a physicist and the tremendous opportunities that are available to students interested in non-academic physics. Emphasis will be placed on encouraging students to embrace the unusual opportunities in industry and government.
