Matteo Ippoliti Wins McMillan Award

Matteo Ippoliti won the 2023 William L. McMillan Award for his contributions to quantum matter and quantum information, including work on quantum Hall systems, time crystals, and measurement-induced quantum phase transitions.

Given by the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the William L. McMillan Award recognizes outstanding contributions by a young condensed matter physicist. Matteo Ippoliti, a researcher in the Department of Physics, won the 2023 award “for significant contributions bridging quantum matter and quantum information, including our understanding of quantum Hall systems, the implementation of quantum simulation of time crystals, and for the development of a theory of measurement-induced quantum phase transitions.
